PRO FOOTBALL'S ULTIMATE FAN ASSOCIATION
RING OF HONOR MEMBER
AWARDED POSTHUMOUSLY
Lido Starelli was a member of the inaugural Class of 1999 of our organization, was honored by the "Visa Hall of Fans" as the San Francisco Ultimate Fan in January 1999, and was inducted into the Pro Football's Ultimate Fan Association "Ring of Honor" in 2008.
Lido was a life long fan of the 49ers and attended every game (minus one) from 1946 to 1999 by taking the same city bus, by entering the park through the same gate, and handing his ticket to the same employee. He was a man of routine, but more importantly, he was a man of superstition. He kept every program and every canceled check he sent to the organization. The only game he missed was the day his father passed away, but he was able to attend over 500 other home games.
Lido was able to attend the First PFUFA Reunion and was VERY active, but was not able to attend the second. He passed away on March 26, 2000 of cancer.
Even though he was only able to attend fhe first reunion (really it was just a gathering), Lido was very interested and vocal about creating an organization from the members of the Hall of Fans. At that first reunion, Lido was filmed talking about the importance of being a good fan. You can view him in the below video.
Our organization is here today because of men like Lido.
